A Bangladesh steel processor needed dependable pressure measurement for its 6-high cold rolling mill. After years of price discussions, the customer placed its first order with us for original HYDAC pressure transducers sourced from Germany. The order was about US$30,000 equivalent, and the equipment was supplied with calibration certificates and supporting documents.

The challenge: a low purchase price did not meet the application need
The customer had compared our quotations with lower-cost alternatives available through a local vendor. The client reported that those lower-priced units typically ran for only six to seven months, while the mill needed pressure measurement for important hydraulic functions. Even so, management continued to consider purchase price closely.
We did not reduce the offer by changing to a cheaper substitute. Our quotation was for the specified HYDAC equipment, made in Germany and sourced through our German selling partner, with supply originating from Heidelberg. The price was higher than the local alternative, but keeping the correct brand, model, origin and documentation together was central to the offer.
HYDAC pressure transducers for roll bending and balancing control
The approved purchase order covered 30 HYDAC pressure transducers for a Bangladesh steel processor’s 6HI CRM Mill 01. The order divided the HYDAC pressure transducers between two critical hydraulic measuring applications:
| Application | HYDAC model listed on the order | Quantity |
|---|---|---|
| Work roll and intermediate roll (IMR) bending pressure measurement | HDA 3845-A-400-031, 300 bar; part no. 921166 | 24 |
| Hydraulic gap control (HGC) and back-up roll (BUR) balancing pressure measurement | HDA 3840-A-350-124, 6 m; part no. 907518 | 6 |
The purchase order specified Germany as the origin and a 12-month warranty from delivery. The total value was approximately US$30,000 equivalent. The application details and quantities above follow the customer’s order.

Germany sourcing, import and documentation
Once the customer issued the order, we purchased the specified equipment in Germany and imported it for delivery to the factory. We supplied the HYDAC pressure transducers with calibration certificates and the related documents requested for the order. The customer’s purchase terms also required original factory-sealed goods consistent with the named brand and origin, so traceable sourcing and paperwork mattered alongside the hardware.

Delivery took place in stages, with delivery challans recorded in the order correspondence. The final items were reported delivered to the customer’s store. We kept the order number and application details aligned through procurement, import and delivery so each HYDAC pressure transducer matched the approved requirement.
Result: the customer accepted the genuine, higher-priced option
After years of comparing prices, the customer chose the original German-origin HYDAC pressure transducers even though their price was several times higher than the lower-cost alternative. The customer was pleased with the equipment and the accompanying calibration documentation. The HYDAC pressure transducers gave the customer a documented supply tied to the specified model, origin and mill application.

What this case demonstrates
- Price comparison should include the operating life reported by the user of the equipment.
- Correct model, range, origin and application should be checked against the purchase order.
- Calibration certificates and delivery records support acceptance of critical measurement devices.
- For production-critical spares, verified sourcing can be worth more than the lowest initial quote.

Keeping a critical spare order traceable
For this supply, the order documents tied each model to its intended measuring point. The customer’s terms called for original factory-sealed goods, a 12-month warranty from delivery and acceptance against the stated quality requirements. We checked the part numbers, pressure range and cable length against the order, then kept the calibration certificate and delivery records with the supply. This gave the maintenance and procurement teams a clear record of what was imported and where it was intended to be used. It also helped explain why the lower purchase price was not the only factor in the decision: the client could review the model, stated origin and supporting paperwork together.
